The creators of the website Beansouptimes.com have announced their very first Black Chicago Eats Week, July 29th through August 12th. The city and suburban-wide event was created to showcase and expose the diverse range of dining experiences to be had among Chicago’s black-owned restaurants.

Coming in Spring 2017, Karriem’s Fresh Market is a black-owned full-line grocery store set to open in the former Dominick’s space in South Shore.
Among the offerings will be a full selection of meat and produce, a cafe and juice bar, an indoor grill and bar. The location, in Jeffrey Plaza, will greatly benefit residents of South Shore who have been without a grocery store since 2013.
